Kids are increasingly sedentary, spending three hours a day in front of a TV or computer. Physical Education is vanshing too, with only 25% of kids still attending. In the 1950s, kids had three cups of milk for every cup of soda. Today, that ratio is reversed, meaning they get all the calories and none of the nutrients.
19% - Percentage of 6-to-11 year-old American kids who were obese in 2004, up from just 4% in 1971.
32% - Percentage of all American kids who are overweight, a recent plateau in the figures
90% - Percentage of overweight children who have at least one avoidable risk factor for heart disease!!
These numbers scare me - how about you? Now's the time to make a comittment to your children, your family, yourself. Get on up off that sofa, put down those chips and MOVE. Let's be good examples for our kids. This "do as I say not as I do" mentality doesn't work. They're watching you so closely - what are you modeling for them? By the way, who buys the "junk" food that's in the cupboard? If it's not there - no one can eat it!
Let's commit to our children's health - physical and mental - together. Keep checking back here. We'll be offering teleseminars and other support in addition to the DBA Network Business in a Box. There's lots going on around here - be a part of it!!
