It starts each year with Halloween. They come home with their baskets all full of confectionary treats. They are allowed a couple of pieces that night - and then the battle begins. Each morning,as I pack my girls' lunches, they ask "are you going to put a treat in my lunch?" I acquiece at first - but then it becomes an everyday event. Each night after dinner they ask if they've eaten enough to have a candy. I hear from them that their class was so well behaved that day, that the teacher gave them each candy. Daycare rewards them with candy as well. Then - Thanksgiving and the holiday season is upon us, bringing it's own sugary, baked treats. It's so hard to know how to stem this problem. Do you stick to your guns and allow only a few treats per week? Do you give in and decide that through the holidays you'll just allow it? Do you throw your hands in the air and join them in the sugar coma that they are about to embark upon? So, Moms, what's your solution to this age-old dilemna? I'm in need of some Mom-support (in part, due to my own sugar addiction!). Thanks for sharing.
Yours in health (and sugar shame) --
Kathy
